I’ve always loved a good quote—the kind that makes you stop, reflect, and maybe even see the world a little differently.

For my 40th birthday (over ten years ago now, picture of me at my 40th above!), I asked my guests to bring their favorite quote instead of a gift. After we were seated for dinner, I passed around a blank notebook and invited everyone to write their quote inside.

Later in the evening, someone had the brilliant idea to read the quotes out loud and quiz me: Who brought which one? It turned into such a fun, heartwarming game—and even now, all these years later, I still flip through that book when I need a little inspiration or a walk down memory lane.

While I have many favorite quotes, if I had to pick just one, it would be this:

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.”

— Anaïs Nin

This one hits home for me—not just personally, but professionally.

As a coach, one of the most rewarding (and fascinating!) parts of my work is discovering how others see the world. My clients share stories through their unique lens—and sometimes, the way they interpret a situation just blows me away. It’s a powerful reminder that no two perspectives are ever quite the same.

In coaching, we call it “getting on the client’s map.” I join them in their world—see what they see, feel what they feel—and from there, I use my tools: strategic questions, experiential exercises, and lots of space to reflect and grow. Together, we chart a path toward what they truly want—whether it’s:

  • A goal like losing 20 pounds and developing a healthy relationship with food

  • Or something deeper, like cultivating peace in a challenging relationship

No matter the goal, the transformation starts with perspective.

Now I’m curious about your lens.

🌀What’s a quote that really speaks to you?

🌀Or tell me this: What do you want for yourself right now?

Please share—I genuinely love hearing from you.
