One of the most common challenges I see in my work with clients is how quickly we get pulled away from ourselves — into worry, self-criticism, problem-solving, or emotional overwhelm.

Before we can respond skillfully to what’s happening in our lives, we often need to slow down enough to notice what’s happening inside us.

This mindful awareness meditation is a foundational practice I use in sessions. It supports emotional regulation, nervous system settling, and the ability to observe thoughts, emotions, and body sensations without immediately reacting to them.

I tend to use this practice in session when:

  • Emotions feel intense or hard to manage

  • Anxiety is elevated

  • Thoughts are looping or spiraling

  • Someone feels disconnected from their body

  • We are building distress tolerance or emotional awareness

  • We need to pause after discussing something activating

Sometimes we use it at the beginning of a session to arrive. Sometimes we use it in the middle of a difficult conversation. Sometimes we use it simply to practice being present.

The goal isn’t to clear your mind or eliminate discomfort. It’s to strengthen your capacity to stay with your experience — with steadiness and compassion.

You’re welcome to use this recording between sessions, during stressful moments, or anytime you’d like to reconnect with yourself.
